- R.S.(Rashtriya Sanskrit) Model Sr. Sec. School was established in 1955 by the founders of Arya Samaj, Model Town in the premises of the Arya Samaj Mandir, with the aim of promoting Sanskrit, the language of Vedas and to inculcate Vedic Culture among the future citizens of India.
- The School started as a primary school, was upgraded to middle in 1959 and to High school in 1965.
- 10+2 system under the New Education Policy was started in 1987-88 only for girls and for boys, it was begun in 2001-02.
- The School was recognized in 1964 and got permanent recognition in 1971 from P.S.E.B.
- The present building of the school sprawls over an area of 5 acres with well – lit class-rooms, libraries, well equipped labs etc, a Yajyashala and a vast play- ground with 400 mts. track.
- At present, the school is progressing by leaps and bounds under the worthy guidance of Mahatma Satyanand Munjal (President, School Management Committee), Sh. Rajinderpal Sayal (Vice-President), Sh. M.R. Mehta (Educational Advisor), Sh. Atul Mehta (Manager), Sh. Vijay Gandhi (Treasurer), Capt. VijaySayal (Member) , Sh. Jagjeev Bassi (Member), Sh. M.L. Kalra (Principal) and a few more.
- There are 3700 students and 155 qualified teachers who provide value based and quality education to future citizens of India.
- In 1984-85, the school was declared the best school of the state by P.S.E.B. Sh. M.R. Mehta (then Principal) was awarded State Award in 1988 and National Award in 1990.
- Present Principal, Sh. M.L. Kalra received State Award in 1997 and National Award in 1999.
- Our students got the honour to extend a traditional welcome to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam when he visited Ludhiana in 2003.
- In 2004, Sh. Brij Mohan Munjal(Patron, School Management Committee) was honoured with Padam Bhushan for trade by the President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. He was also honoured with degree of D.Litt. by Banaras Hindu University.
- In 2004, Capt. Vijay Sayal (then Manager) escorted 50 students and 5 teachers of the school to Rashtrapati Bhawan to see president Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam who had an audience with the students for an hour.
- The School is successfully running two N.S.S Units (Boys & Girls) , N.C.C, Eco Club, JCI Club, all kinds of sports and games, etc.
- Our old Students , who are always recognized as the most disciplined ones , hold responsible positions in various fields of society as doctors , engineers, scientists etc. Recently, In 2012, Our Student Shehnaz Akhtar won second position in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and another student Ankush Sharma has won the title of ‘Sur Sartaj’ in 2013. Jasmeet Kaur (+2) played a lead role in a Punjabi Movie.
- In 2012, Our +2 Student, Bimaljeet Kaur who is also an N.C.C cadet, added a new feather to the R.S Cap by representing the state in RD parade in Delhi.
- In 2013, an organization (School Summit) declared our school one of the Best 100 Schools in India considering the stupendous Board Results of our School displayed every year. The decision was backed by the Chairman of Punjab School Edu. Board also.
- Every year, the school gets huge applauds in media and by the State Education Board for excellent academic results of our students who achieve positions and maximum number of marks in board examination.
- In 2014 another +2 students Jaspreet Kaur (NCC Cadet) again brought laurels with her honourable participation in RD parade in Delhi.
- In 2014, Board Results all the top three positions of the state have been grabbed by our students including total 18 state merits in 10th and 19State merits in +2 Board results respectively.
- In 2015, +1 student Harnoor Kaur (NCC Cadet) participated in RD Parade in Delhi.
- In 2015, Board results , our XII Non Medical Student Darshvir Kaur topped the Punjab Board securing 1st Position with 100% marks, XII Medical student Amanjot Kaur topped her stream securing 99.33% marks, XII Commerce Student Sarvodya topped her stream securing 98.67% marks.
- In 2015 , Board results our school grabbed highest number of merits in XII (26) as well as X (24) among all the schools in Ludhiana city.
- In 2016, NSS Volunteer, Baldeep Singh (+2 student), participated in RD parade in Delhi.
